6H (Rosa) is a painting of a woman and red drapery. It shows a woman peering out from draped cloth. The intention was to let her our gaze as if she knew us well, and could read us in a kind and friendly way. In the series Chroma one dominant colour is used to set a mood, and in this one it is the sense of love and warmth. Rosa is of course a female name, which etymology is the Latin Rose (Flower), it is also the name of red colour hues.

Drapery as in ‘artfully folded fabric’ has been used by European artists for centuries, and from ancient Greek sculpture to contemporary photography. Drapery can be applied for a number of reasons. It clearly serves Composition, shows status, accentuates the Body, creates a Theatre or drama and leads the eye round a composition. You can produce a painting of a woman and red drapery in so many ways, here the attention was on producing a close up to give the eyes more detail and impact.
